Gohyaku Rakan (Five-hundred Rakan, which are the highest disciples of Shaka)
About 1,300 years ago, a Buddhist priest Gyoki entered into Mifuneyama, and carved three Shakuson-zo and Five-hundred Rakan-zo, then put in a cave. When he carved the five-hundred Rakan-zo, he got sick. Therefore when he carved the three Buddhas, he prayed for healing. The carved buddahs are powerful and full of spirit, still gently watching over visitors of Mifuneyama, even after 1,300years passed now. |

오백라한 (五百羅漢)
지금으로부터 약 1300년 전의 일로, 명승 교키(行基: 나라시대의 승려로 백제계)가 미후네야마(御船山)에 입산하여 석존상 3체를 비롯해 나한상 500체를 조각해 동굴에 안치했다고 전해지고 있습니다. 이 500체의 불상을 조각할 때 병에 걸린 교키가 병이 낫기를 기원하면서 조각을 했다고 전해지는 3체의 불상이 있는데, 그 모습은 보는 이로 하여금 마치 교키의 기백과 신념이 전해져 오는 듯 씩씩하여, 1300년이 지난 지금도 미후네야마를 그리고 이 고장을 찾는 사람들에게 용기와 따뜻함을 전해주고 있습니다. |
